Looking for a spot for a run? A picnic? To read? To explore? Here it is.
I may be bias, but the Dunedin Botanic Garden has always been one of my favorite places.
The city of Dunedin holds a lot of "first" for New Zealand. From hidden corners with little people coming through, to open grassy areas, a bird aviary, duck ponds, winter garden glasshouse, a cafe that makes bangin' hot drinks, and way more -- this was New Zealand's first botanic garden!
There are many short trails that takes you around the park with many different views and inclines. Be in awe to see the hills over Dunedin! And for wildlife lovers, there are thousands of species of plants with tons of birds. You can easily spend a day getting lost here!
Open from dawn to dusk and free to all! Who doesn't love free? For more information about the Dunedin Botanic Garden, click here!
P.S. Didn't plan for a trip here? There is plenty of restaurants in the area and a New World grocery market right outside the park gates. The gardens was always a nice shortcut from my flat for some grocery shopping.
P.S.S. Don't stay past dark, you will get locked in!
Enjoy!
