Enjoy beautiful views of Thirteenth Lake and surrounding mountains from the ledges of this short hike.

Weather you're short on time or pairing this with another area hike, this little trek will leave you satisfied. Starting at the end of Old Farm Road you will walk into the woods on a continuation of what was the road. The forest has reclaimed it, in just a few short years.

At approximately 0.16 miles you will reach a junction and register.  After signing in you will turn left and follow the blue trail. It is a fairly easy terrain until you reach your next junction. Here you will take a right and follow the yellow trail.  A sign will indicate that you have 0.6 miles left.

The trail will climb 400 feet before reaching the summit ledges.  The ledge is a perfect spot for lunch with Thirteenth Lake below.  You will see Hour Pond Mountain and its rocky cliffs.

I hike to push my limits both mentally and physically, take in the beauty of the great outdoors, and just to get away from it all. Every chance I get you will find me in the mountains, on a kayak or ending my day by the campfire!

Hike to Beaver Pond

New York / Appalachian Trailhead at Canopus Lake

Beaver Pond is a small body of water created by a dam that was constructed during the days of iron ore mining in the area.  The pond is crystal clear and has a wonderful tree line right on the water.

New York / Charcoal Burners Trailhead, Clarence Fahnestock State Park

This is one of my favorite hikes in the Clarence Fahnestock State Park. A real mixed bag but mostly very enjoyable. The trail starts at the Charcoal Burners Trailhead Route 301.
