Hike to Tremper Mountain Fire Tower

Tremper is part of the five required Catskill Towers for the Fire Tower Challenge. 360 views are to be had from the fire tower.

As the trail starts you will cross a few wooden bridges, then climb a steep section with rock steps. At about the 0.3 mile mark you will meet up with the Jeep trail that you will follow to the summit. This is also where the register is placed. As with all hikes, don't forget to sign in and out.

There is a steady uphill climb along the Jeep trail. At just over 2 miles, off to your right will be a side trail to Baldwin Memorial Lean-To. Again at almost 3 miles is another lean-to, Tremper Mountain Lean-to. From here it is 250 feet to the fire tower. The summit stands at 2740 feet.

The other Catskill fire towers in the challenge are Hunter, Overlook, Red Hill and Balsam Lake.

I hike to push my limits both mentally and physically, take in the beauty of the great outdoors, and just to get away from it all. Every chance I get you will find me in the mountains, on a kayak or ending my day by the campfire!
