Camp at Caroga Lake

Located near many hiking trails this clean beautiful park is the place to stay.

I have been camping here yearly. Located on East Caroga Lake the sites are clean and many are large. They offer a few water sites. It is not a huge campground which I enjoy for the peace and solitude it offers. The facilities are always clean and in working order. The staff is friendly.

You can stay right on site and just chill by a fire, swim at the beach or rent a canoe or kayak for some great paddling. If you're into fitness, there is a fitness trail throughout the campground. There are also several hiking trails nearby (short drive) including Kane Mountain Fire Tower.

It is currently $20.00 a night and reservations can be made at reserveamerica.com.

I hike to push my limits both mentally and physically, take in the beauty of the great outdoors, and just to get away from it all. Every chance I get you will find me in the mountains, on a kayak or ending my day by the campfire!

Hike to Beaver Pond

New York / Appalachian Trailhead at Canopus Lake

Beaver Pond is a small body of water created by a dam that was constructed during the days of iron ore mining in the area.  The pond is crystal clear and has a wonderful tree line right on the water.

New York / Charcoal Burners Trailhead, Clarence Fahnestock State Park

This is one of my favorite hikes in the Clarence Fahnestock State Park. A real mixed bag but mostly very enjoyable. The trail starts at the Charcoal Burners Trailhead Route 301.
