About this place

Added by Mike Fennell

This hike will give you best view in all of Torres del Paine Park and have you feeling on top of the World

There are plenty of fascinating views throughout Torres del Paine National Park, so you can understand why it's such a popular destination. But with so many people doing the most popular hikes like Los Torres, it can feel a bit overcrowded. But somehow this very accessible hike is still relatively quiet of tourists, and you can find 360 panoramic views of the Park all to yourself.

There are two ways to get to the top of Mirador de los Condores. The first and easiest way is from the trailhead across the road from Lago Pehoé campground. There is an easy-to-find trailhead sign and from there the trail is very well maintained and easy to follow. It is uphill the entire way, so depending on your fitness level, as well as weather considerations, it should take between 40 and 80 minutes to complete the 3km one way.

The other route is across from the bridge to Lago Pehoé Island hotel. It is slightly longer, but from my experience I saw a lot of Condors along the way. Regardless, as the name of the trail suggests, you should be able to see Condors from the summit. They are massive beautiful birds that are amazing to watch soar through the windy Patagonian skies.

If you have the time you can do the full loop and walk along the dirt road beside the Lake to get back to your starting point. If you're an experienced hiker and feel comfortable navigating the trail at dawn and/or dusk, I would highly recommend watching either the sunrise or sunset from the Mirador.
