My family tree can be traced through the Land Between the Lakes and the Shawnee National Forest regions of West Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have been obsessed with traveling the Nation's National and State Parks my entire life.
This trail was awesome to me as I haven't yet been to many volcanoes in the PNW. The jagged blackened rock was like walking on another planet.

This area is REMOTE. Be sure you have enough water as there are very few sources to filter water in this area.

Make sure you take the trail down into the canyon to see the ruins.

Make sure to do this early in the day to avoid the heat, and also make sure to have enough water and proper footwear. The hike up is one of the toughest hikes I have ever done, but the vies of the sonoran desert and phoenix were awesome.

A lot of Iconic cabins in the smoky mountains reside within this loop. Also, several awesome trails are worthy of hiking within this trip.

Don’t get stuck in the dark. Get a reservation at the only lodge within the park at the summit of Mt LeConte

This side trip from LeConte Lodge is awesome in October when the leaves have changed.

Regardless of crowds, try to stop here, especially in the fall when the leaves are changing. Worth every click of the camera.

At least three worth waterfalls along this trail make it a great couple of hours spent within the park.

Orange Beach is an awesome strand west of Pensacola on the Florida Border. The beaches are often less crowded and more family friendly.

See the remains of a imploded portion of Mammoth Cave. It is a great forest hike down into the sinkhole left behind.

The views at the top are unreal. Sometimes the mud makes this semi impassable.

You will likely see nesting swans or missed within these ponds. We saw both every trip we made to Yellowstone.

Be sure to do this on a weekday when the crowds are smaller.

A true highlight of Yellowstone, this hike takes you up and above to see the spring in its entirety.

If you choose to photograph at night in Yellowstone be sure to go with a guide or a group. There is literally a book called Death in Yellowstone that documents those who strayed off the path at night and slipped into hot springs or geysers.

This is the main highway through Yellowstone. Be warned though traffic jams are likely in the summer when wildlife are near the road.

Many guides within Jackson can be hired to take the rapids within the Snake River nearby. If something calmer is what you need, a lot of flat river rafting is also available.

Jenny Lake is one of the Crown Jewels of Grand Teton NP. Paddle or catch a boat ride is how we enjoyed the clear waters of the area. There is also great hiking nearby all with views of the mountains. Trout fishing is also a great pastime here in the summer.

Make sure to stay on one of the few paths that lead to the falls. The falls themselves are worth the visit, also you will see a lot of wildlife in the summer months.

Much smaller crowd sizes and imo better views of Zion National Park than Angels Landing. I did AL just to get the badge of honor. I did this hike for the best views of the park. It is physically demanding and is exposed in the hotter months so prepare.

Chasm is a easy but amazing hike to an fantastic view of the valley below. Parts of this canyon only receive less than a hour of direct sunlight which gives the canyon its black color.

This is one of the first encounters one has with the Island in the Sky District of Canyonlands. Majestic views and awesome red rock for miles.

This park is iconic for photography. Make sure to get to view points during the sunrise or sunset for the light to be right for most highlights of the park. Also, be sure to have ample lights if you choose to take photos at night as this park gets extremely dark and sometimes there are no crowds to help in case of emergencies.
