My family tree can be traced through the Land Between the Lakes and the Shawnee National Forest regions of West Kentucky and Southern Illinois. I have been obsessed with traveling the Nation's National and State Parks my entire life.

There are boat ramps and a marina to get your adventure here started. The flat water paddles with the red rock canyons is awesome any time of year.

This is an awesome immersive experience in the spires of Chiricahua.

This is a remote park, but with it being a member of the NPS, many amenities are here for all campers. Take advantage.

The Superstition Mountains glow orange and red at sunset and make for some awesome photos. From novice to experts, all can capture this area well.

If you don't wish to hike, there is another way through a cattle ranch to reach the ruins.

Great intro walk to see the highlights of the NP. Easy for almost everyone.

I had no idea I would see a 100 foot or so waterfall in full display when I headed out to explore near Tucson. The trail sometimes is hard to follow to the base of the falls but it is worth the effort as this is a sight to see.

this cascade doesn't seem possible to exist in the desert, but thanks to the limestone springs in the area it is usually wet even in summer.

If youre only driving through the park and not hiking, make sure to add this great side road to the trip.

This is the one hike you have to do if only visiting the park for a short period of time.

Just when I thought Arizona couldnt surprise me. I wasnt really excited about Petrified Forest, but once I did this trail I was hooked to do more. The rocks here are amazing color. Make sure to have a lot of water as I did it in the heat and ran out early.

Though it wasn't made by pueblo people, this awesome building makes for an awesome photo. In busy seasons though it is extremely crowded.

The Mongolian Rim of Arizona is a hidden gem of the state. The mountains jet out above the desert below and provide springs, pine forests, and tons of wildlife to see. Its a must explore if in Arizona for a period of time.

Make sure you have a permit and also make sure you have the vehicle that can make it over the 14 mile rocky road. The falls and grotto areas are worth both these hurdles.

Not as great of a reward hike as others in Sedona, but the views are still awesome.

This is a great place for a swim on a hot day or to photograph at sunset with the red rocks shooting out above the water of Oak Creek.

This is a good option for those who dont want the longer hike to Devil's bridge. It is scenic and worth a stop while in Sedona.

you can also reach this in a vehicle if it is 4wd and high clearence.

take a jeep on the broken arrow trail as it is one of the best off road experiences in the lower 48.

There are just as great off road trails in Sedona as other places like Moab or Telluride.

This is a great 4wd trail and hiking mixed in. There is also a "cave" nearby. The pools and devil's sinkhole are also along this trail. For Soldiers Pass you will need to get a permit from the Forest Service website.

No show cave lighting here. Be sure to have a quality head lamp with charged batteries. This was a great hike to beat the Arizona Heat.
