Camp at Palisade State Park
Garretson, South Dakota
Description
Added by Rachael Westergard
Pitch your tent near a rushing river and enjoy the peace of nature.
Palisade State Park offers lots of activities, including camping, hiking, kayaking, and even swimming in the river. Steep cliffs made from pink quartzite give way to Split Rock Creek, a river perfect for kayaking. Up on a cliff, there is a campground with fire pits and picnic tables at each site. Cabins are also available to rent down the road from the campground. The sites are relatively far apart and provide seclusion. There are restrooms down the road as well.
Waking up to the sound of a stream nearby and walking a few steps out from our tent and seeing these huge rock formations was very enjoyable and I would highly recommend camping out at Palisade State Park. There is an entrance fee to the park, so be aware.
