Kayak Lake Phewa
Pokhara, Nepal
Description
Added by Rachel Davidson
Rent a kayak at daybreak to see the Annapurna mountain range at its finest.
Looking for those postcard views of the Annapurna range you see in Lakeside stores? You'll have to work for them (or at least, wake up early).
Especially during the spring, the mountains get lost in clouds by mid-morning and are rarely visible from the town of Pokhara, on the lake, or even up on the top of the World Peace Pagoda. The good news is, an early start will do the trick.
Talk to one of the boat renters the evening before and arrange on a meeting time and place (they don't typically linger on the beach before 6am, though they will if you set it up beforehand). Rentals shouldn't cost you more than $2-5 USD for a few hours.
The wake and wind should be calm in the morning, and you'll likely have the lake to yourself. Enjoy the solitude, or bring along good company... I promise that the early morning alarm will be totally worth it!
