Bouldering In The Buttermilks Reviews

This is a world known bouldering destination and with many pro climbers living in the bishop area, you may find yourself getting some beta from a pro or having one spot you. Buttermilks has something for everyone. Beginner, intermediate, pro you’ll find something (lots) to jump on. The buttermilks is a short drive from the town of bishop. Summers can be brutally hot so fall through spring are most ideal. You can climb here in the winter too, just be prepared for snow and colder temps.

Just the name makes you want to eat a whole basket of buttermilk biscuits! So many climbing spots and bouldering spots. You can tell by all the chalk marks that you see on the rocks. Parking along side the road are identified by some rocks that you can see where other cars have been parked before. Make sure to wear lots of sunscreen and take lots of water it can get pretty hot in the middle of the day. Not much shade outside of the shade that the boulders give you so pay attention when you’re out there. The sunset light looks so beautiful against the rocks. A definite place to go visit if you’re in the area!

One of my favorite places.

get yourself out of the gym and head over to this place. the boulders are endless! grippy rock, great friends, beautiful scenery. you can bring your furry friend with you too! we used to camp right next to the Get Carter boulder, but now you're supposed to only camp at the pit or stay in town at Hostel Ca. (highly recommend staying there during colder weather) Buy the guide book. You'll have a lot of projects :) Buttermilk classics that I have fun on: Iron Man Traverse (V4), Pope's Prow (V6), Birthday Direct (V3), Buttermilk Stem (V1)
