One of the best high country locations in the Sierra Nevada the enjoy a sunset. Watch the light play on the surrounding granite domes and peaks while reflecting in the many waters.

Tuolumne Meadows at an elevation of 8,619 feet exemplifies the high country of the Sierra Nevada, with its sweeping sub-alpine meadows, granite domes, summer wildflowers and meandering rivers. When the forest opens up park along the side of the road and find a trail.

There are also plenty of nearby hikes including Pothole Dome trail, which tracks along the western edge of Tuolumne Meadows. The top of Pothole Dome offers rewarding views looking east across Tuolumne Meadows. In the middle of the valley is the central trail, about half a mile long, that leads across the meadow and the Tuolumne River footbridge. Lembert Dome trailheads to the towards the east/center of Tuolumne Meadows offers excellent views looking west but this is a short 2.8 mile round trip hike.

Enjoy a Sunset at Tuolumne Meadows Reviews

This is a great location in Yosemite and and not a busy at the valley floor. One of my favorite times to visit Tuolumne Meadows is durning the late spring when the the meadow is full of wild flowers.

Since the Tuolumne Meadows parking area allows for drive-up car camping, and also because there's a convenience store selling booze and snacks, I would highly recommend this adventure be done on a warm summer's night with happy hour makings in hand. The meadow is huge, so it'll be easy to find a rock or grassy patch away from other crowds to watch the sunlight colors fade across the mountains. Regardless of where you stay in Yosemite, Tuolumne is a must-visit!!
