Camping at Sunset Campground provides visitors with a reserved campsite under a variety of trees, including the large sequoias known for this area.
Sunset Campground is minutes away from the King's Canyon National Park entrance. There are a total of 150 sites (2 group campsites) at this campground which can be reserved here. There are several bathroom, water faucets and even an amphitheater. Each campsite comes with a bear locker, picnic table, fire ring with grill and parking area. If necessary, there's overflow parking near the main entrance. This campground allows pets on leash, too.
The campground is surrounded with a mixture of forest trees, including the well-known sequoias. Keep in mind, the elevation for this campground is near 6500 feet, so it can get pretty chilly, even in the summer months. There are several hiking trails nearby and it's only a short drive to the scenic parts of King's Canyon. The General Grant tree is only a short hike (or drive) away! Additionally, the Grant Grove Village is within walking distance, so you can easily stock up on any supplies you may have forgotten.
