Hike to the top of the highest point in Wisconsin and enjoy 360 degree views of the surrounding area.

Hike to one of the easiest high points in the country. Standing at only 1,951 feet, Wisconsin's Timms Hill isn't going to be the most impressive climb you do, but it is still worth the hike. The entire area is a county park with plenty of amenities. Take the short 1/4 hike to the top of the hill, and climb the observation tower. The tower offers 360 unobstructed views of the surrounding Wisconsin landscape. If you look south you will see Bass Lake which offers a boat launch, swimming area and fishing pier.

The park is open year around and has more than 9 miles of trails, for hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, skiing and snow shoeing. We stopped at the park on a cross country trip, and its a great place to have lunch and stretch your legs. There are plenty of sheltered picnic tables, restrooms, electricity, and water.  (during the summer months)

We visited the park in June and the wild flowers around the park were in full bloom. The fall is suppose to be the best time to visit the park, due to the beautiful fall foliage that covers the entire area. During the winter the park is still open, but the roads aren't plowed and you have to hike in from the main road.

If you are coming from the east/Tomahawk, it is a 22 mile drive west on HWY 86. Ogema, WI is the closest town to the west, 5 miles away. The park is free of admission and is open from 7:30am till sunset.

Hike to Timm's Hill Reviews

Muddy trails and lakes to splash in. Tower views are expansive. Had a slight sway on a high winds day that gave me a bit of vertigo. Enjoyed a delicious panini and a Canoepaddler at the great restaurant across the lake. Make sure you stop to eat at the Hill of Beans when making the trip to Timm’s Hill.

Did this every year in high school after an annual cross country meet at Timms Hill. Excellent view, secluded location, and very picturesque with the nearby lakes.
