A picturesque pocket of old logging forest for year-round adventure
The Raven Trails are located adjacent to Clear Lake Campground in the Northern Highland American Legion State Forest. Start at the Woodruff Road entrance for access to some of Wisconsin northwood's best Mountain biking trails as well as 4 looped hiking trails. The 1.2mi Nature Yellow Trail is great for a family walk - cross the boardwalks for a close-up look at marshland wildlife. Dogs are not allowed on the Yellow Trail. The Green (2.5 mi), Blue (3.5 mi) and Red (5 mi) trails meander through new and old growth forests and around hidden lakes. All are great hikes to wear out your dog, and in the winter serve as groomed cross country ski trails. If you're extra adventurous - pack a headlamp and take a night ski, while taking a break mid-trail at the covered shelter for a campfire.
The highway J entrance (look for the Clear Lake Boat Landing) gives you access to a paved bike path that connects the Clear Lake Campground to it's sister Indian Mound's Campground to the south. Here you can also put in your boats on clear lake and paddle around it's crystal clear waters or access another group of hiking trails that are reserved for snowshoeing in the winter.
