Take in the view of Diablo Lake

Washington Diablo Lake Lookout

Added by Scott Kranz

Get your photo of this North Cascades Landmark and take in the lush turquoise/green water color.

Diablo Lake is a reservoir in the North Cascades created by Diablo Dam. The hue of the lake is created by ground up rocks from local glaciers, which end up drifting down streams into the lake.

If you’ve decided to take in the viewpoints driving Hwy 20 through the park, be sure to check out Liberty Bell as well.

If you’re up for being more active and moving around, check out Trappers Peak / Thornton Lake

Amazing color

This quick stop off Highway 20 is a must-do if you're in the park. The color of Diablo Lake is just incredible. And with no effort required, you'd be crazy not to have a look!

Diablo is Awesome

Definitely one of my favorite views in the North Cascades National Park and is very easily accessible. If your driving through the park or area this is a must see stop!

Hwy 20 is an amazing motorcycle ride. We rode down to the dam and parked right on top. Gorgeous, as is Liberty Bell, too!

Start off on the extremely rough Forest Service 9070 road. Follow this for just over 4 miles until you see a sign for trail #1348 on the right.

Hike to Elk Pass via "the Knife"

Washington / Snowgrass Flat Trailhead

This is a rather long out and back, however, it can also be done as a backpack, which would give you more time to explore the Goat Rocks Wilderness, which is highlighted in other Adventures.

Hike to Snow Lake, WA

Washington / Snow Lake Trail

This hike gets crowded fairly quickly so get there early. The parking lot is very large so parking is not really a problem.
