Head out to Myrtle Falls in the Paradise area of Mount Rainier National Park. This trail will take you to a beautiful 72-foot waterfall.

This .97-mile hike leads to 72-foot Myrtle Falls with snowy Mt. Rainier in the background. Follow the Skyline or Golden Gate trail and then cross the footbridge over Edith Creek Basin and head left. After enjoying the views at the falls, turn around or continue on for a longer hike. 

The Hike

Hike .97 miles and 151 feet of elevation gain along the Skyline or Golden Gate Trail before following a short trail to the right that leads to the scenic viewpoint!

Best time to hike Myrtle Falls

This trail is very photogenic, so expect it to be busy. Head here early in the morning or toward dusk to avoid crowds. Bring a tripod for awesome waterfall photos. You might even happen upon a proposal, they're popular in this romantic spot!

Permits

Mt. Rainier National Park charges an entrance fee, so expect to pay for a vehicle pass.

Camping

If you wish to make this an overnight adventure, consider staying at nearby Paradise Inn or National Park Inn.

Dogs are not allowed on this trail unless they are service animals.

Post-adventure

Need some snacks after your hike? Visit the National Park Inn where you can stop at The Longmire General Store, the oldest building in Longmire. They have snacks and camping supplies, plus fun Mt. Rainier souvenirs!
