Picturesque mountain views and total serenity.
The Glacier Basin Trial begins in “D” loop of the White River Campground in Mt. Rainer National Park. Glacier Basin trailhead is popular with climbers who are beginning their ascent of Mount Rainier.
The trail is quite easy and well established after it was severely damaged in 2006. The Trail runs along the White River for 3.5 miles Along the way, you'll pass a half mile side trail heading up Emmons Moraine. This one is worth a detour, as it offers incredible views of Emmons Glacier, the largest sheet of ice on Rainier, and a milky blue-green glacial lake below. Glacier Basin campground sites are located in the trees as one approaches the open meadows of the basin. There are limited amount of sites available to camp at with a back country pass.
Due to the elevation there campfires are not allowed, only camp stoves are permitted.
