Easy boat launch area. Picnic area. Blue Ridge Mountain Views. Stocked lake for fishing. Calm waters for kayak, canoe, SUP -- you name it.
This little lake close to Charlottesville is my favorite place for an after work kayak, SUP, or just picnic by the water. It's a 20min drive from town, and the perfect place to watch the sunset over the Blue Ridge with water views. No gasoline powered motors allowed, but anything else you can get in the water is fair game.
On the weekends there is SUP yoga, and plenty of places to have an impromptu picnic or catch some largemouth bass. From Charlottesville: Take State Route 250 West towards Crozet; Cross over Mechums River, take immediate right onto State Route 680 Browns Gap Turnpike; Turn left into Park on Beaver Creek Park Road. The parking lot is right there and you will see the boat launch and the shoreline to put in you vessel of choice. Happy paddling!
