Hike the Lake Trail Loop at Hungry Mother SP

Hungry Mother State Park is located in the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains in Southern Virginia. Located inside the state park is the Lake Trail Loop that winds itself around the man-made reservoir and the park. Hikers can access the trail in numerous locations throughout the park but the easiest way is to utilize one of the parking locations just as you enter the park. They are located along the right-hand side of the road and right next to the lake. The trail passes each of these parking areas. Once on the loop you'll continue through the park and up onto the mountain. While the trail isn't difficult it does include gradual elevation gain.

As you continue along the loop you'll have numerous opportunities for photographing the forest, the lake, and the trail. There are also many places to stop and have lunch or a snack. The loop will return you right back to your car.

There are cabins and camping available at the park as well. The cabins are cozy, comfortable and clean.
