About this place

Added by Leah Joy

The Town of Lake Elmore calls itself “The Beauty Spot of Vermont.” Climb the Elmore Fire Tower to take in all the beauty from the top!

If hiking in off season when the park is closed, begin from the lower parking lot or the "day use area". If hiking while the park is open you can drive to the upper parking lot (subtract about 1.4 miles from total distance)

Beginning from the lower parking lot make you way through the gate and into the park. Turn left and begin walking up the road for about 3/4 of a mile. Here you'll reach the trailhead. Continue on the Fire Tower Trail for 1.9 miles to reach the summit. Be sure to stop at the old cabin site which offers the first spectacular views. Remains of the cabin including an oven and bed can be seen from a fire that burnt it to the ground.

The Fire Tower Trail begins easy, turns moderate, and the last .2 miles become more steep and challenging with rocky sections. Climb the fire tower and enjoy the views.

To make a loop descend via Ridge Trail passing balance rock along the way.

After you're finished with the hike be sure to stop by The Elmore Store. Purchase beer and a pizza and enjoy the cozy lake view room or sit out on the deck.
