The Utah Hills areas in South West Utah have some of the best sport climbing in the world. You can day trip it out there, but plan on getting so psyched that you'll want to be there for weeks. There area many different limestone sport climbing areas here. You could spend a lifetime climbing these areas and never run out of things to do.

The Utah Hills areas of climbing are mostly limestone. Some of the best quality rock in the country. There are many areas here that are still being developed. The climbing style is sport climbing and the skill level needed is from beginner to expert, but to enjoy the area to its fullest intermediate to expert climbing skills are advised(5.11-5.13 skill set or higher)

There are various guide books for the climbing in this area, the latest is Rock Climbs of Southwest Utah by Todd Goss. The rumors are rolling around that Misty Murphy and strong man Bill Ohran are putting out a new guide with new areas for climbing.

Plan on packing out food and water with you. You will be on the back roads that pass the Virgin River Gorge and about 20 miles or so from St. George, UT.
