Great for beginners, Lambs Knoll is the perfect destination for a quick canyoneering adventure near Zion National Parks Kolob Terrace.

Located just outside of Zion National Park's boundaries, Lamb's Knoll is a popular destination among adventure seekers. This area is unique as it offers routes for both climbing and canyoneering. Perfect for beginners, the canyoneering routes at Lamb's Knoll are half day routes that takes you through a slot canyon after a series of rappels.

Lamb's Knoll is a popular canyoneering site for many of the local guide companies near Zion National Park.  Half day canyoneering adventures can easily be booked with a guide or completed independently for those with experience. The most popular canyoneering route is through an area known as Snake Alley with rappels between 50-80 feet.

From the parking lot, follow the trail to the top of the canyon. The hike is short but gets steep as you make your way up to the top and the first rappel. This rappel is about a 50 foot drop to the canyon floor.  From here you have two options. Option one is to go to the left through a narrow downclimb/scramble then a short rappel. Option two is to the right making your way up to a keyhole with a rappel of roughly 75 feet. No matter which option you choose, you will end up in the same location after the rappel. From here the only way out is to stem down to the bottom of a narrow slot which is the exit of the canyon.

So fun

This was such a fun route for an afternoon adventure. The canyoneering route went by quite fast so we went over to the climbing area to get in another rappel before leaving.
