A great mountain bike trail for families or intermediate to advanced mountain bikers just 20 minutes from Moab.
Starting from the trailhead north of Moab on Dalton Wells Rd. Follow the Copper Ridge 4x4 road until you see the signs for the start of the Sovereign Trail. It starts with a steep uphill, but once you crest the top of the hill you are rewarded with a beautiful view of the La Sals and surrounding desert landscape.
The next mile or so is downhill over some mellow rock drops and fun riding sections. Soon after is one short section of double black diamonds, which you can easily walk, or watch the expert rider in your group cruise down!
At the bottom of this steep section is another link up with other trails. Stay on the sovereign trail and climb up and over another rise to the next fun downhill section.
There are many options to make the ride shorter or longer. You can exit out at any of the links to the Salt Wash trail, or you can continue on Sovereign Trail until the end and then take the Salt Wash trail back to the car.
