Water Canyon Trail in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness is a slot canyon desert oasis tucked away from the crowds of Zion.
Water Canyon is a narrow canyon on the southern side of Canaan Mountain in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness south of Zion. It makes for a great hike away from the crowds, though do not expect to have the trail to yourself as it is a great starting point for backpacking and canyoneering trips into the "Island in the Sky" Wilderness.
To get there from Hurricane take Route 59 southeast for 22 miles until you reach Hildale. Turn left on Utah Ave for two miles before turning north. Then turn right at the junction of Maxwell Canyon Rd and Water Canyon Road. Follow the dirt road north for two miles until you reach the trailhead.

Water Canyon Trail in the Canaan Mountain Wilderness Reviews
Pretty great hike! Not long or too difficult. Really amazing views from further up!

Some of the area may appear to be similar, but this is not The Narrows. They ard on the north side of Zion and this is far south of there. It is a nice hike, but very different in the difficulty.

I grew up here and this is actually called “The Narrows” and it’s apart of Zion’s. You got some great pictures!
