Description

Get a bird's-eye view of the beautiful red-rock desert canyons in Canyonlands National Park.

If you're entering Canyonlands from the north (Island in the Sky side), don't miss this quick hike! This hike is fairly level the entire way and not too long—perfect for kids.

Follow Grand View Point Road down towards the middle of the park, then turn left at the sign for the White Rim Overlook. Park at the parking lot and there's a sign marking the start of the trail. Pretty soon you'll hit a kind of small hill—go to the right. The trail isn't really visible, so follow the cairns. You'll walk past plenty of interesting rock formations and cactus plants. The trail ends at a precipice overlooking the canyonlands. Amazing views in almost every direction!

Hike the White Rim Overlook Reviews

We were actually trying to find the Gooseberry Trail when we ended up at the White Rim Overlook. It’s a quick, easy walk through red rocks and sagebrush to the overlook. Amazing views at the end—and there’s a big rock right at the point of the precipice that has a nice little shelf to sit on & take in the view. Don’t go to Canyonlands just for this, but if you’re nearby it’s an easy little hike to add on to the rest of your trip :)
