Description

Enjoy a scenic, accessible and family friendly hike along Deer Creek Reservoir from the dam to Soldier Hollow.

While driving East, the turnoff to the trailhead is just left of the dam. There is a size-able parking lot and rest rooms available. The hike itself is a dirt path and easy to follow. Access to the water's edge is restricted until you are 1500 feet past the dam. Though the trail is designed for biking, equestrian use and hiking, it is also a great location for trail running. It is also great for cross country skiing and snowshoeing in the Winter.

I recommend hitting the trail in the early morning to catch the sun rising over the Wasatch Mountains. Do the trail in the Winter months to see less people.

Note: The trail is only for non-motorized use. Dogs are also not allowed on the trail.

Walk the Deer Creek Dam Trail Reviews

As a Park City local, I have done this trail numerous times and have parked at both ends. I am pretty sure it is 7.5 miles one way so 15 miles RT. The dirt road follows the Deer Creek Reservoir the entire way and depending from which side you start there are amazing views of Mount Timpanogos. The entrance by the dam is free while the entrance closer to Heber is part of the State Parks and requires a pass or a fee. I almost always see deer on the hillside. Love this trail and highly recommend it for runners in particular!
