About this place

Added by Natalie F

Free, scenic, and plenty of trails to walk through.

Just a 1.5 mile walk from Edinburgh Castle is the Royal Botanic Garden of Edinburgh.  It’s worth a stop and you could easily spend 1-4 hours here. Plus, it’s a fun walk from downtown Edinburgh.  There’s plenty of shops and restaurants along the walk, or just soak in the architecture. Additionally, you’ll be right by the Water of Leith river once you arrive at the Gardens.

The plants are beautiful and there is even a waterfall.  There are benches throughout the gardens.  There are both indoor and outdoor exhibits.  Admission is free.

Their mission goes hand in hand with those that like to adventure in the outdoors: “Explore, Conserve and Explain the World of Plants for a Better Future.”  They have all kinds of research and educational programs.

Gardens that are...royal
The countryside in the UK is incredibly beautiful, and these gardens capture that essence wonderfully
