The winding creek and the shade from the trees' canopy make this a cool retreat from the sun. It's perfect for a hot summer day.

It's a short, easy hike at 5 miles round trip and only 300 feet of elevation. It's enough to fill an afternoon without dragging on too long - just in case you're bringing along some smaller kiddos.

Be sure to pack some snacks or a picnic. There are so many beautiful places along the creek that are perfect for a quick pit stop or a lunch break. The kids will also have a blast playing along the creek bed.

Bonus: wildflowers! Keep an eye out during the summer months for wildflowers all along the creek and the trail.
