5 Summer Activities at Jackson Hole Resort

Big mountains, big wildlife, big living...that's what awaits for a traveler to Jackson Hole this summer.

The sun rises early and sets late in this corner of Wyoming, giving you all the more hours to enjoy everything that this mountain destination has to offer.

Staying at Jackson Hole Resort puts you right in the middle of the action, making it easy to mountain bike in the morning and hike in the afternoon, or experience the Via Ferrata before settling into a long evening of great food and drink at The Spur in Teton Village.

Here's just a taste of Jackson Hole's summer activities.

Ride 4,139 Vertical Feet in 12 Minutes

There's no faster path to heady views than hopping on a tram to the top of Jackson Hole Resort. The "holy crap, we're really high up!" feeling starts almost immediately, and you can ride that euphoria all the way to the top. Once you're up there, enjoy 360-degree views of the Tetons and the entire Jackson Hole valley.

Pedal the Mountains

Jackson Hole's mountain bike park has a little something for everyone, from beginners to expert riders. Serviced by the Teewinot chairlift, you can do hot laps all day until your legs are ready to fall off or you're ready for a beer at the base...whichever comes first.

If bike park riding isn't your style, there are plenty of cross country rides, family-friendly bike path rides, and everything in-between in the Jackson Hole and Grand Teton area. Guides are available, too!

Get a Taste of Mountaineering on the Via Ferrata

A Via Ferrata—translated as the "iron way"—is a protected climbing route. The use of Via Ferratas dates back to World War I when Italian soldiers created them in order to safely traverse the Alps. At Jackson Hole this summer, enjoy a taste of mountaineering on their very own Via Ferrata. Six routes through the mountains are designed to challenge any skill level, and guides are on-hand to ensure a safe and comfortable experience.

A trip on Via Ferrata involves climbing on iron rungs and pegs, traversing suspended bridges, and scrambling up carved steps. It's a mountain experience you won't forget!

Mountain Magic on Two Feet

No adventure-loving human can visit Jackson Hole without taking at least one hike in the mountains. It would be unthinkable not to. Big mountains, wildflowers, the chance to see wildlife, incredible views, and the pleasant burn of tired legs and lungs make the lure of hiking pretty much irresistible.

For a kickstart to your hike, ride the tram or gondola up the mountain and either traverse from there, or simply hike down and enjoy the views. Less intense hikes begin from the base of Jackson Hole, and of course, Grand Teton National Park's trails are just a stone's throw away.

Experience a Different Type of Big Air

In winter "big air" means launching off a jump on skis or a snowboard, but in the summer it takes on a whole new meaning with a paragliding ride. No experience is required to take a tandem flight with a professional pilot. Ride the aerial tram to the top of the resort, get settled into your harness, take a few running steps, and then you'll be airborne for 10 - 20 minutes, admiring the views and feeling your legs dangle into the nothingness below.

Guide service is also available for experienced solo pilots.

Whether you're trying something brand new or enjoying your favorite sports, Jackson Hole delivers the goods in the summer.
