Hike through Tom Slick Community Park

The Missions San Jose-San Juan trail is used for hiking and mountain biking, and is accessible year-round. Dogs are allowed on trail but must be kept on leash. Please avoid these trails at night due to the remoteness of certain areas on the trail.

This loop is great for families and all skill levels. The gardens are open year round, and feature different seasonal flower assortments. The San Antonio Botanical Gardens has an entrance fee of $10 per adult. The gardens have a small cafe for a quick bite to eat. The gardens feature flowers, ponds, birds, and are an overall wonderful education experience. 

The Government Loop is a ~12.75 mile trail that is great for intermediate-advanced hikers who want a longer loop. The trail winds through a beautiful forest and is shared with mountain bikers and trail runners. The trail is open year-round and allows dogs. 

This beautiful bike trail exists in the middle of San Antonio,  and is an offshoot of the Salado Creek Greenway. You can start this trail past the electrical tower at the north end of the greenway. Park your car on Huber Rd (there are plenty of offices and shops you can park at, though you may have to park across the street) and take the ramp switchbacks to get to the greenway.
