Hike through the towering East Texas Pines along the Lone Star Hiking Trail. Located in the Sam Houston National Forest you'll experience some of what Texas has to offer. From the whispering pine tree piercing the sky to bamboo forest that'll make you ended up in another country, you'll see Texas in a whole new light.

The Trail

Trailhead #1 of the Lone Star Hiking Trail puts you in an isolated part of East Texas where you can truly experience nature and peace. The trails are marked with squares and are normally well kept and clean, but you will have to navigate over fallen trees and through muddy creek bottoms. There are loads or side trails and loops that will suit any adventure's desires. The trail offers lots of scenic creek crossings and a wide variety of plant and wildlife, perfect for photographers. Being a point-to-point trail, there are tons of places to start and stop making it adaptable to anyone's skill level and desires.

The Lake

The trail will lead you all the way to the San Jacinto river connection with Lake Conroe. Perfect place to make camp along the bank, and with other campers nearby, it's also the perfect place to make new friends.
