A beautiful, but challenging and popular hike that gives wonderful views of the Austin skyline and one of the most popular bridges in Austin.

This is a pretty challenging hike but the view is most definitely worth the effort. There are two sides you can hike up on: the east and west. The west side is more popular as it gives a view of the Austin skyline as well the Pennybacker Bridge. However, the east side is good for sunset viewing. Both sides require significant rock climbing, however the climb is not very long. The Overlook is accompanied by an out-and-back trail that a little less than 2 miles. This trail follows Lake Austin around the curve. Once past the climbing at initial start of the trail, it gets much easier. The trail is heavily trafficked and especially on the weekends/holidays.

The area is dog-friendly, but they must be on a leash as the highway is right next to the cliff. This area is NOT handicap accessible.
