This is an amazing nature escape in the middle of Skåne (Scania - South Sweden). One of few spots with higher views of the region.

Söderåsen is Scania's highest point, at 212 m (696 ft) above sea level, and the area is about 16 km2 (6.2 sq mi). It is intersected by several fissure valleys. There are two entrances/exits and you can start hiking up on the highest viewpoints Kopparhatten, Hjortsprånget and Lierna along the Skäralidsdalen, or walk on the built foot path through the valley.

At the most of Sweden's national parks in Skåne (region) you are not allowed to camp, but everywhere else - public/private land - you can camp for 24h. However always read the information, as at each park there is a specific camping spot, or simply camp outside of the national park borders next to it.

At this park there are two houses for hikers and campers to stay overnight - Liagården houses 19 people (+ floor and camping outdoors). Other house is called Dahlsberg, which could take 25, but in my view can accommodate more than 25 and at least the same amount of campers outdoors. These shelters are old forest guard houses. The houses are not heated, but you can make a fire, so bring warm camping gear - in any season!

Both houses are for free. No booking! You can also set up a tent around the allowed camping area next to each house.

By the lakes there are several picnic areas with campfire spots and provided logs. There is a well at both places, so fresh water is unlimited. You can also fish, but need a license. There are some trails for cycling.

It is not a big park, so usually weekends are busy with families, backpackers who are doing the Skåneleden trail, or students on a camping trip. If you stay overnight at one of the houses, you will meet many different group of people coming to enjoy the nature escape!
