Signal Hill is a small hill that provides spectacular views of the ocean and Cape Town. Watch paragliders soar from the top (or do it yourself) and soak in the view as helmeted guineafowl prance around your feet.
This is a much easier and less adventurous sunset trip than hiking up Lions Head to watch the sunset, so it's better suited for families with small children or folks who aren't too keen on wild adventures.
Find out what time sunset is and then head out to Signal Hill a bit beforehand.
Follow Signal Hill Road up to the parking lot and park if you can find room (otherwise just park on the narrow shoulder of the road without blocking traffic).
From there, you can explore the few paths that encircle the hill, spread out a picnic blanket and have dinner with your friends (or utilize one of the picnic tables in the area), and watch paragliders soar off from the launch site nearby.
Signal Hill gives a great glimpse of Table Mountain to the south, as well as Green Point Stadium far below to the north.
Watch the ships sailing out in the deep waters with your binoculars. Take some stellar photographs and bask in the setting sun.
