Hike to Slap Kozjak

2 Miles Total - 262 ft gain - Out-and-Back Trail

Originally added by Katie Yarborough

A quick hike to one of the best waterfalls that Slovenia has to offer!

This great waterfall can be accessed by a dirt road, where the trail marker is placed. Just above Camp Koren you will spot a signpost for Kozjak waterfall, which directs you to the left. A dirt road will take you across the meadow and bring you to the turquoise Soča river. There is a small parking area to the right before the road dead ends. It's possibly big enough for 3 to 4 cars. If there is no room, you can park before the meadow near the camp buildings. Follow a nice marked trail, and you can also make a short detour to the right and visit remains of the bunkers from the 1st World War. You'll follow the signs pointing you in the direction you'll need to go. There are a couple side trails to showcase some of the other popular spots on this trail that include a swinging bridge over the insanely blue waters of Kozjak, as well as a couple smaller waterfalls. All are beautiful and worth viewing.

Fun fact--Kozjak waterfall is also a part of 'Kobarid historic trail' that visits all major sights around Kobarid! If you have the time, consider hiking the historic trail!

There are no trashcans on this trail. Please practice Leave No Trace!

Overall rating:

Beautiful waterfall in Kobarid.

Easy trek up to the waterfall. Good incline but we were able to do it in flip flops :) small area - combine with something else if you can!
