Here at The Outbound Collective, we dream of adventure as much as you do. Every day, when you post new stories and experiences, our bucket lists get longer and longer. Not that we mind one bit.
We love scheming about travel plans so much that when our friends at MT Sobek asked us to share which of their trips we'd be most stoked to take, we jumped at the chance.
MT Sobek has led adventure trips around the globe for 50 years. They know a thing or two about putting together a journey that will satisfy any adventure-loving soul. Here are the destinations that we'd like to explore with MT Sobek in 2020.
Co-founder and Director of Operations at The Outbound Collective, Tyler, has his eye on the Bhutan Trek & Cultural Discovery. MT Sobek highlights the best of Bhutan on this 11-day trip. The trek includes three days of ridgeline hiking and camping, visits to Bhutan's most famous monasteries, and a wander through the remote Haa Valley.
Production team member Meghan is ready to pack up for a 160-mile rafting trip down the Alsek River in Alaska. This adventure includes floating past the largest icebergs in Glacier Bay National Park, a helicopter portage (how many rafting trips have that?), and meals around a campfire every night. Oh, and Class II-IV rapids to boot.
Kristi, The Outbound Collective's Executive Producer, Content Strategist, and Gear Editor, has a trip to Peru's Cordillera Huayhuash on her adventure wish list. This trek tackles one of the world's most spectacular mountain circuits. It features views of glacial lakes, jagged peaks, and hanging glaciers. There are 11 days of high-altitude hiking on this adventure, including seven mountain passes that top 15,000 feet.
The Outbound Collective's Director of Adventure, Grant, is "all in" for a 10-day family safari in South Africa. The trip includes cruising on an authentic pirate ship, exploring vineyards by tram, and driving through the Madikwe Game Reserve looking for lions, giraffes, eland, springbok, and gemsbok.
Spending time on an expedition ship is definitely on The Outbound Collective writer Sara's bucket list. Combine that with time in the polar regions, and she's sold. This 13-day trip journeys to the Antarctic Circle, passing wind-sculpted icebergs while keeping binoculars trained for humpback whales and albatross.
Kyle, The Outbound Collective's Creative Director, is looking to turn back the clock with a trek on the Los Dientes de Navarino, a rarely-traveled route in Patagonia. MT Sobek calls this trek "an authentic hiking adventure like the MT Sobek old days," and likens it to the famous Paine Circuit 20 years ago. Kyle's going to have to put in the training though...this adventure trek is rated a "5," MT Sobek's most physically demanding rating.
