Description

Added by Heidi

At just under a 30 minute drive from downtown San Francisco, this hike offers great views, mild crowds, and plenty of beach for relaxing.

If you're looking for a little hike and a lot of beach, you'll find your ideal combo at Rodeo Beach and Point Bonita Lighthouse. Park at the Marin Headlands Visitor Center at the head of the 0.8 mile trail to the beach. From the lighthouse to the beach, it will be another 1.5-2 miles there and back.

The beach area is not too crowded, although there are more people down at the lighthouse. We saw plenty of harbor seals relaxing on the rocks and even saw one poking its head out of the water in Rodeo Cove.

Don't forget to check the hours of operation for the lighthouse!

Rodeo Cove to Point Bonita Lighthouse Reviews

Loved this walk close to SF! The lighthouse and beach are beautiful. It's more of a stroll than a hike (most of the path is paved), but the scenery is beautiful and it's a great getaway from the city.
