Chillin at Fort Mason
San Francisco › Great Meadow Park
Added by Christopher Bobel
Fort Mason offers gorgeous views of the Golden Gate, a well-manicured lawn, and a communal vibe making a great spot to relax on sunny days.
When the sun comes out in San Francisco, Fort Mason's Great Meadow Park transforms into ground zero for bocce ball, corn hole, wiffle ball, music, dancing, wine, and beer. While it lacks the diversity and quirkiness found at Dolores Park, it makes up for it with a beautiful panoramic view of the Golden Gate and the Bay and good vibes. If you're looking to celebrate a sunny summer day in the city, Fort Mason is the perfect place to set up camp. Parking is easy and a Safeway is right across the street for all of your last minute needs.

Can get pretty crowded on nice days in the late summer and fall, but nonetheless a great spot to relax in the sun. As Amanda said, if you bring your food from OTG up there, you can beat the crowds of the parking lot and enjoy your feast!
Friday nights at Fort Mason you can hang out at Off the Grid for delicious food truck eats of all types of cuisine. Tends to be chilly in the evening, so bring a jacket! http://offthegridsf.com/markets/fort-mason-center#about

Hike the Tabor Nature Trail
San Francisco / Taber Nature Trail, Standish-Hickey State Recreation Area
Signs at the trail head for the Tabor Trail state it is 1.1 miles long. That is much shorter than the actual 1.8 miles my GPS put it at. The trail sign also claims it is wheelchair accessible.

The Founder's Grove is easily accessed from Highway 101 in northern California. The grove is also on the Avenue of the Giants Scenic Highway.
