World famous waves on a cliffside beach via the main gate paved path. The beach is open and expansive and be very careful if it's big, the waves here are powerful!

With arguably some of San Diego’s best waves, Black’s Beach can be found in the vicinity of the University of California San Diego campus, at the southern end of Torrey Pines State Beach and north of La Jolla Shores. Stately eight-figure mansions now line the bluffs where pastures and the Black family horse farm once lay. Hence the name, Black's Beach.

Black’s is famous amongst surfers for big winter swells, but can also be a fun day for anyone looking for adventure and something off the beaten path. With no real access besides hiking down various trails or one paved walkway, this presents a challenge and keeps the beach relatively uncrowded. You can look up at towering cliffs lined with mansions, view the cove in La Jolla, watch for dolphins, check out paragliders, and just soak in one of San Diego's hidden gems. Bring snacks, water and some energy for the hike back to your car and you will have an amazing time here.

One of the best beach breaks. Views are great as well

One of the best beach breaks in the world! Waves can get heavy in the winter, but you can score some really good waves!

One of the best waves in San Diego

although the walk down and the views are amazing, the waves aren't for the timid or beginners. be prepared to take a pounding if the waves are big.
