Adventurous hiking in Arcadia, Rhode Island
Long Ell Pond is a favorite hike at any time of the year, but it is not for the faint of heart (or small children)! The path immediately becomes more of a rock-scrambling adventure than a hike, but the views are so worth it.
This GPS address will lead you down a dirt road but you should easily find the trailhead and a small parking area that is well marked on the left. This trail is preserved by the Nature Conservancy, Audubon Society, and State Management properties. The trail is not really well marked, but you start by following the yellow blaze. My 5.7 mile trail is out to the third parking lot and back, but you should feel free to make this hike shorter if you'd like!.
This area is especially beautiful around Father's Day when the mountain laurel is in full bloom!
