This hike travels along a very beautiful stream (Trout Run). This area is located just off of Lamb’s Gap road on State Game Lands. The stream is in a slight gorge, with steep walls on one side. There is a lot of moss cover and a mixture of hard and soft wood trees. If you want to hike in some seemingly untouched beauty and give your kids a chance to play in a clear and unspoiled mountain stream, then this is it.
Hike along the creek for about a half mile, we stop where the trail meets the stream and let the kids play in the water for a bit and then head back. There are 2 large pull-off parking areas alongside of the road. The spot is exactly 3.7 miles from Adventure Park in Mechanicsburg. If you are unfamiliar with the area, you might want to scope out the parking situation on google maps ahead of time. Be aware that there is no/limited cell phone service on the mountain.
