Description

Added by George Bruce Wilson

Ecola SP is a great spot for scenic photography, particularly of Haystack Rock. Remember to pack some food in the car as this is a great spot for picnicking and catching sunsets.

Oregon is full of state parks. Ecola is one of the easiest parks to capture amazing views. The sate park spans 9 miles of Oregon coastline. It's $5 to get in and it's well worth the money (you can also purchase an annual parking pass here).

Many people come to the park to take photos of Haystack Rock on Cannon Beach. There are hidden beaches all around the park with great views of the Pacific Ocean and rock formations jutting out which look great during sunset. There is also a large heard of Elk that tends to hang out around the park and create easy wildlife photo opportunities.

Be prepared for an easy hiking day, where the hardest part is deciding which place in the park to take amazing photos of.

Outstanding views! Great spot for some photos and a picnic (tables there)! The drive to the park is also beautiful!

If you stopped in the Cannon Beach area, you probably photographed Haystack Rock from the beach. Before you leave stop in Ecola State Park to get a whole new set of shots from a different vantage point. A lot of the trails are currently closed, but its still worth it.

The view is incredible!!!!The drive up to the park is beautiful through the woods.Theres a large parking lot and picnic tables at the top.I was disappointed that several of the trails were closed and I couldn't get down to Indian beach. We saw a herd of elk in a field next to the highway when we were leaving.

If you're in the area, you should make time for this park. One of the bests!

Cool place to go when exploring the northern Oregon coast. Unfortunately when I went much of the park was closed due to storm damage.

This area has everything you want from the Oregon coast: dense, lush forests, waterfalls, little pristine coves, views over looking the rocky coast line, and fresh air!
