About this place

Added by Kat Carney

As of Friday, January 31st, 2025, Thousand Steps Beach is closed due to a landslide for an undetermined amount of time. More details are available here.

Easy beach access and blue see-through waves with small crowds in the off season. This is a huge beach with the potential for wildlife spotting.

Park at the intersection of Highway 1 and 9th Ave in Laguna Beach. Walk down the steps—there are more like 300 than 1000—and once you hit the beach, head south.

When the tide is low, you can walk through a cave and on the other side you will find a couple of shallow pools where you can swim and check out the sea life.

Note:
This area may be closed due to tide or a large, incoming swell. Be sure to check the tide and swell conditions before visiting.
