Photograph Hayden Run Falls

Added by Dan Barr

Tucked away along the banks of the Scioto River, Hayden Run Falls hides in the midst of the the hustle and bustle of Columbus, OH.

A great evening getaway while in Columbus, Hayden Run Falls is easy to access. The path to the falls is a well-maintained boardwalk above the floodplain of the Scioto River, just a little over a 0.1 mile in length. The boardwalk takes you right up to the very foot of the 35 foot tall waterfall, and on most days the spray from the falls coats the deck (and you if you get too close!)

There is also a viewing platform of the falls from the road above that is handicap accessible, as the boardwalk descends set of stairs nearly 40 feet into the ravine that Hayden Run Falls empty out into.

Take a pass

Sadly, not much good to say about this one. Parking lot was a disaster, barely any spots to begin with and it is tucked right next to a highway. No additional parking nearby. The "falls" that supposedly usually spray mist all over the boardwalk railing were beyond dried up. Probably need to be here after or during a heavy rainstorm to get any pictures worthwhile. We thought maybe we could get good pictures of the river from under the bridge, but that's where a homeless person set up camp and we felt weird about attempting to walk through his tent empire. Not a very great area overall, trash everywhere. The best I can recall is the unique teal water pooled by the cliffs.
