Description
Added by The Outbound Collective
This 1.2-mile trail has minimal elevation gain and leads to Lower Falls. This waterfall flows the most in the spring, especially after a snowy winter, and can dry up around July during dry summers.
What's the trail like?
The loop has a one-way path, making it easier for people to get in and out. The area can get busy, so be sure to follow the one-way signs for the best traffic flow. The path is well-maintained and has a lot of stone steps.
When's the best time to visit?
Come in the spring for the most impressive falls. Winter is beautiful and much less crowded, but the route can be slippery. Wear appropriate footwear (like boots with excellent traction) to stay safe and comfortable.
Visit in the morning or early evening if you want to experience fewer people and less traffic in the parking lot! Weekdays are also less busy, especially during the school year.
What should I bring?
This hike can be hot, but cools down as you go lower and closer to the falls. Wear sunscreen and bring layers to adjust to the changing temperature. Bring drinking water.
Are dogs allowed?
Dogs are allowed as long as they're on-leash. Some people find the one-way paths excellent for dog hikes because the pups shouldn't be interacting with other people or dogs coming the opposite way.
