Walk through the four completely full hangars of the National Museum of the US Air Force, learning about each major US aircraft from the Wright brothers' to present.

The best part about this adventure? It is FREE!

Free parking, free WiFi, and yes, you can see all sorts of planes from the SR-71 Blackbird to past Air Force Ones, all without paying a dime. Some planes you are even able to walk through to get a good look of the interiors! This is one of the best museums I have been to, and there are extremely informative signs all along the way. Most of the staff are volunteers, and many are veterans who would love to tell their story to any who ask! Free themed tours are scheduled regularly so consult their website to make sure you don't miss any that appeal to you. The museum also has a gift shop, simulator, and theater. Be warned, however, that you cannot just simply walk through in an hour and move on. I recommend allotting at least three hours to briefly see it all, possibly more if you want to read the plaques and go on any tours.

As always- stay safe, have fun, and adventure on!

Discover the Complete History of US Aviation Reviews

This is the museum-goers dream - rich in history, well marked and educational signs, free and you get to walk right up some pretty awesome airplanes! The museum walks you through the history of the US Air Force and let's you get up close to and sometimes inside the planes! My personal favorite area is the Space section where there are many rockets on display. Definitely allow 3-4 hours if you want to see the whole museum!
