Great hike 30 minutes from downtown Charlotte!

Crowders Mountain State Park is the closest green space to downtown Charlotte and it will not disappoint. There are two peaks worth checking out: The Pinnacle and Crowders Mountain. Crowders Mountain stands at 1,600' offering incredible views of the surrounding area and on a clear day you can see downtown Charlotte. Start at the visitors center and head out on the Crowders Trail and then take the Rocktop Trail to the summit. Make sure to watch your footing as the Rocktop Trail is, well... rocky. This is the best way to reach the summit.  Spend time at the top before heading down over 300 stairs to meet back up with the Crowders Trail which will take you back to the visitors center.

Hike Crowders Mountain Reviews

Good trail

It is a popular hike and can be crowded. We drove out there as a family but when we arrived it was closed due to crowds. Facebook page had not been updated. We left disappointed.

I've been here hiking and also did a climbing trip here. I would definitely recommend visiting in the spring/fall as summer usually is very hot and humid. It does get pretty crowded on weekends, but if you leave the main summit area you can get away from most of the people. Parking can also be difficult on busy days so come early!

Map was easy to follow . It was very nice and worth the drive

Crowders has several trails at all levels. Basically, there is something for everyone. It's quick convenient trip from Charlotte - close, yet you feel so far away. I prefer the Pinnacle Trail that leads to the summit of Kings Pinnacle. Shorter, but a bit more strenuous.
