Description

Added by Samuel Martin

Over night wilderness camping in some of North Carolinas best landscapes.

Linville Gorge has many trail heads, I prefer the Wolf Pit Rd trail head which leads to Short Off Mountain. This trail climbs steadily over the first mile but levels out once you reach the gorge rim. There are an abundance of campsites along the trail, many of which can hold groups of 10 or more. Water is available at a pond along the trail and a spring only a few hundred yards off trail. Spend a weekend or a week at the gorge, both will leave you feeling refreshed and inspired.
