This is the perfect sunset spot near Franz Josef. Be sure to bring your camera and catch reflections on the river.
The Waiho River is a glacial fed river from the spectacular Franz Josef Glacier. The main road to get there is Highway 6, which becomes a long single-lane bridge when it crosses the river. If you find yourself staying in the small town of Franz Josef over night then you should make the short walk to the bridge. From here you'll get a beautiful mountain view in all directions and a perfect spot for sunset pictures. Make sure to stop at the 24-hour Mobil gas station in town to grab some tasty New Zealand Beer!
