The Palenville Overlook Trail is a 12 mile loop through Catskill State Park, just south of Albany.
The Palenville Overlook Trail offers incredible views of the Catskills and the entire Hunter Mountain region in New York. The trail is open for use year round, and is great for snowshoeing in the winter. Dogs are allowed to use the trail but must be kept on leash. There is a wonderful place to stop for a picnic at about 1,900 feet. If you want to turn this into an overnight, there are campgrounds at the North and South Lake.
This is a great trail for birding!
